BirdBicara privacy policy
BirdBicara is a vocabulary flashcard app developed by Cheeky Hen Softworks. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. Questions: cheekyhensoftworks@gmail.com.
The short version
BirdBicara has no accounts and no sign-in. Your decks, cards and study progress are stored on your device, not on our servers. We don't use advertising, analytics or tracking, and we don't sell your data.
Stored on your device
- Your decks and cards, including any you create, edit or import.
- Study progress (review history and scheduling) and your settings.
- Your own AI API keys, if you choose to add any. These are kept in your device's secure storage and are only sent to the provider they belong to.
This data stays on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes it. Files you export are saved or shared wherever you choose to send them.
Sent to third-party services
Some features need an online service. When you use them, only the text needed for that request is sent:
- Translation and card generation: the word or phrase you enter is sent to Lara Translate, or, if that fails, to a Lingva Translate server.
- Explanations: the card's text and a prompt are sent to the AI provider selected in Settings: Groq, Google Gemini, OpenAI or Anthropic.
- Purchases: payments are handled by Google Play. We use RevenueCat to check what you've bought, which uses an anonymous app ID and your purchase details. We never see your payment details.
Each of these services handles that data under its own privacy policy. We don't send them your name, email address or any other identifying information.
Feedback you choose to send
If you report a card or contact us, the app opens your email app or a feedback form with the card's details filled in. Nothing is sent unless you submit it. We only use what you send to reply and fix the issue.
Device features
Pronunciation uses your device's built-in text-to-speech. BirdBicara doesn't access your contacts, location, camera or microphone.
Children
BirdBicara isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Deleting your data
Since your data lives on your device, you can delete individual decks in the app, or remove everything by uninstalling it. To have feedback emails deleted, email us.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
